SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Rusty Filter, the newly hired Santa Clara head baseball coach, has completed his coaching staff for the 2017-18 season. Greg Gonzalez will be a volunteer assistant coach and Nicholas Enriquez has been named the director of operations.
Gonzalez heads to Santa Clara after coaching at Skyline College in San Bruno, California. He was an assistant coach for the 2017 season at Skyline under Dino Nomicos. While playing for Skyline in 2008 and 2009, Gonzalez won 22 games, twice leading the state in strikeouts and earning All-American honors twice. He transferred to Fresno State and accumulated a 19-3 record over the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He earned All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) accolades in both years while also throwing a no-hitter against Hawaii in 2010. Gonzalez was drafted by the San Diego Padres and played in their system for three years. He earned a kinesiology degree from Fresno State and is working on his masters in kinesiology from St. Mary's College.
Enriquez will join the Bronco staff as the director of operations after spending the last year as a volunteer assistant coach at Stanford. Prior to that, Enriquez was an assistant coach at San Jose State where he coordinated recruiting efforts and instructed the team's infielders. Enriquez spent eight years at Dartmouth, including three as the top assistant where he oversaw recruiting efforts for the Big Green. A 2001 graduate of Menlo College, in Atherton, Calif., Enriquez earned a degree in business administration, and was a four-year letterman and two-year starter in the infield for the Oaks.
