Baseball Signs 15 Players In 2018 Recruiting Class
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the signings of 15 prospective Bronco student-athletes, including three that were named as Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American High Honorable Mention, to National Letters-of-Intent on Thursday.  Broncos head coach Rusty Filter made the announcement.

"We feel really fortunate to have signed such an athletically gifted group of players that are coming to Santa Clara," said Filter.  "I couldn't be happier with the job Coach Karcich did as our recruiting coordinator along with Coach Swanson.  We inherited the job a few months ago and we went all in."

Filter's inaugural class includes 10 pitchers and five position players.

"We feel we got two of the top pitchers in the west with junior college righty Keegan McCarville and prep right-hander Julian Tristan," said Filter.

Tristan along with outfielder Cameron Allie and middle infielder Dawson Brigman received recognition as Preseason Underclassmen High Honorable Mention by Rawlings-Perfect Game.

Out of the 10 pitchers, the Bronco coaching staff signed six from junior colleges.  They include four right-handers: Locke Bernhardt (Loveland, Colo., Mesa CC), Ethan Heinrich (Brentwood, Calif., College of San Mateo), Keegan McCarville (Glendale, Ariz., South Mountain CC) and Alex Tisminezky (Las Vegas, Nev., College of Southern Nevada).  And two left-handers: Bernhardt's twin brother, Holden (Loveland, Colo., Mesa CC) and Brendan Ecklebarger (Redmond, Wash., Bellevue College).

Four prep right-handers with a heavy Bay Area flavor fill out the 10-pitcher class: Jordan Baldwin (Mill Valley, Marin Catholic HS), Alex Reelfs (Mountain View, Calif., Los Altos HS) and Luke Tillmann (San Jose, Calif., Archbishop Mitty HS) are from the Bay Area with Julian Tristan (Irvine, Calif., Northwood HS) from southern California complementing the staff.

The five position players are all from the high school ranks: outfielder Cameron Allie (El Dorado Hills, Calif., Oak Ridge HS), middle infielder Dawson Brigman (San Jose, Calif., Valley Christian HS), catcher Matt Erickson (Kailua, Hawai'i, Mid Pacific Institute), middle infielder Blake Faddoul (Yorba Linda, Calif., Yorba Linda HS) and outfielder Nicholas Sampson (Ewa Beach, Hawaii, James Campbell HS).

Beginning the week of November 20, the Broncos will highlight one signee per week.  The first of those signees is Cameron Allie.

The signees will join the Broncos in the fall of 2018.
