SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the 17th member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2018-19 season, John Hanley.  The corner infielder currently attends Saint Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco.  

 

"I chose Santa Clara because I love everything about the school. The campus is beautiful, the great Jesuit education sets you up for success in the future, and the baseball program is all I could ask for. Every alumni or current student I have talked to shows a lot of enthusiasm when talking about how great the school is. I enjoy the school size, allowing for close contact between professors and students, and a variety of courses to study. The school spirit is also something I look forward to being a part of, watching fellow Broncos compete in their sports," said Hanley.  

 

Hanley captained both the baseball and football teams this past year and will once again captain the baseball squad this coming spring.  

 

On the diamond, the right-handed Hanley batted .308 with 12 extra base hits for the Wildcats.  On the gridiron, the six-foot-three, 230 pounder played on both sides of the line earning four letters and was named first-team West Catholic Athletic League his senior year.  

 

"John is a big, strong, physical right-handed hitter.  He's a corner infielder that could also play some corner outfield.  I expect him to supply some power right away when he steps on campus.  He's a football player as well and brings a strong work ethic.  We're looking forward to his future as a Bronco," said Santa Clara head coach Rusty Filter.  

 

Our next future Bronco, Ryan Jeffries, will be announced on January 16.
