Baseball Falls to LMU, 7-3, on Sunday

LOS ANGELES - LMU starting pitcher Nick Frasso allowed two runs over seven innings while the Lions' 2-3-4 hitters combined to drive in six runs to help secure a 7-3 win over Santa Clara baseball on Sunday.

Frasso held Santa Clara (3-15, 0-3 WCC) scoreless through the first six frames while LMU scored in three of the first four innings to jump to a 6-0 lead.

LMU (11-7, 3-0 WCC) got RBI hits from the cleanup hitter Trevin Esquerra (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) in the first and third innings off Bronco starter Brendan Ecklebarger to go up, 2-0.

In the fourth, the Lions broke the game open sending eight batters to the plate with four crossing the plate to extend its lead to 6-0.  Cooper Uhl (1-for-4, R, 2 RBIs) and Brandon Shearer (3-for-5, R, 2 RBIs) each had 2-run singles in the inning.

The Broncos got on the board in the seventh on Connor Henriques (1-for-3, 2 RBIs) 2-run single off Frasso and added a run in the ninth on Dawson Brigman's (1-for-4, R, RBI) RBI grounder.  

Frasso (2-0) picked up his second win of the season and Ecklebarger (1-3) took the loss.  

Next up
Santa Clara next play a nonconference series at CSUN starting Friday.
