Baseball Loses Series Finale to Pacific, 1-0
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Kevin Sandri's RBI grounder to score Alex LeForestier in the second inning was the lone run of the day as Pacific beat Santa Clara baseball, 1-0 in the West Coast Conference series finale on Sunday.

Pacific (20-16, 7-8 WCC) starter Ryan Shreve (4-2) pitched a complete game, no-hitter allowing just one base runner, on a hit by pitch.  The Tiger right-hander threw 109 pitches, of which 78 went for strikes to face just 28 Broncos hitters.

The only base runner allowed by Shreve came in the bottom of the fourth when he hit Jake MacNichols with a breaking ball on a full count.  MacNichols advanced to second when Shreve threw the ball away on a failed pick off attempt but was stranded on base.

Five Santa Clara (7-26, 1-11 WCC) pitchers combined to hold Pacific to four hits.  In the second frame, LeForestier led off the inning with a walk against Bronco starter Holden Bernhardt, advanced to third on Tyler Ryan's double before coming home on Sandri's grounder to short.

From that point on, the Bronco pitching staff of Bernhardt, Brandon Buckley, Alex Tisminezky, Locke Bernhardt and Eric Lex tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings allowing four hits.

Ryan had two hits in the game to lead the Tigers.
