SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Nick Nyquist drove in five runs and scored twice, and Alex Jacob tossed five scoreless innings to lead Gonzaga to a 10-2 win over Santa Clara baseball on Friday to even the three-game series.

Nyquist and Guthrie Morrison each had three of the 13 hits produced by the Bulldogs (18-16, 11-6 West Coast Conference) who scored all of their runs between the third and seventh innings.

Nyquist had a two-out, three-run double in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 7-0 and added a solo home run in the seventh when the Bulldogs scored their final three runs. They also scored twice in the third and fourth innings.

Jacob (5-3), who entered the weekend with the fifth-best ERA in the league, surrendered just four hits and struck out seven though did issue five walks. Nick Trogrlic-Iverson relieved him and struck out three without allowing a hit in two innings of work.

Holden Bernhardt (0-5) suffered the loss for the Broncos (8-28, 2-12) after yielding seven hits and six runs (all earned) in 4 2/3 innings.

Santa Clara left 10 runners on base and tallied both of its runs in the bottom on the ninth to break up the shutout.

Dawson Brigman and Jason Dicochea each had two hits for the Broncos. Dicochea and Andre Nnebe had RBI singles.

The Broncos won Thursday's series-opener 4-0 as Russell Grant II, Keegan McCarville and Eric Lex combined to surrender only four hits, and Andre Nnebe smashed a three-run homer.
