SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara hosts its final midweek home game of the season when it takes on No. 2-ranked Stanford on Tuesday at 6 p.m. 

The Broncos are 4-0 on games held on Tuesdays this season, outscoring its opponents 32-6 including 25-0 at three home games as SCU will look to close out the month of April on a strong note having gone 6-10 in the month.

LAST TIME
Santa Clara played Portland in a West Coast Conference series over the weekend where the Pilots took the rubber match on Sunday.  
 
In Friday's series opener, Portland had a five-run outburst in the seventh inning for a 5-3 come-from-behind win.  The five-run inning broke a 20 consecutive inning scoreless streak by the Bronco pitching staff.  Overshadowed in the loss was another solid outing by starter Russell Grant II who allowed just two hits and one run in six innings of work while walking five and striking out four.   
 
The Broncos evened the series on Saturday with a 8-3 win behind a pair of career firsts - starter Holden Bernhardt picked up his first Bronco win throwing five innings and Connor Henriques connected on his first home run.  Jake MacNichols and Andre Nnebe also homered in the game as part of an 11 hit attack by the Broncos lineup.  
 
Sunday's series finale went in the favor of the Pilots, 13-9.   Between the two squads, the game featured 12 hits, 19 walks and nine hit batsmen.  The Broncos trailed by as many as seven runs but fought back to get within three in the sixth inning before eventually falling by four.  
 
Cam Allie and Tony Boetto each drove in four runs and Dawson Brigman collected five hits in the series to lead the team.  
 
ABOUT STANFORD
No. 2-ranked Stanford are led head coach David Esquer who is in his second year at the helm after spending 18 years as the head coach at Cal.  Esquer as a career record of 602-486-2 including a 77-19 record at Stanford entering Tuesday's game.  
 
The Cardinal are hitting .282 led by Will Matthiessen (.377/.460/.616) and Andrew Daschbach (.316/.403/.581).  Brandon Wulff has gone yard a team-high 15 times among 11 hitters who have combined to homer 53 times on the season.  Stanford has stolen base 40 times while allowing just 15.  
 
On the mound, Stanford has a 3.15 ERA, striking out 329 opposing hitters while walking 114 in 342 2/3 innings.  Closer Jack Little has eight saves to his credit with a 1.63 ERA and struck out 37 in 27 2/3 innings.   
 
Defensively, the Cardinal  have committed 34 errors in 38 games. 
 
STANFORD CONNECTION
•Santa Clara head coach Rusty Filter was an associate head coach at Stanford from 2010 to 2017 under the legendary Mark Marquess.  
•Bronco assistant coach Jon Karcich coached alongside Filter at Stanford from 2015 – 17 serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator under Marquess.  
•One of the premier coaches in college baseball history, member of American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, and gold-medal winning Olympic baseball coach, Mark Marquess was hired as Special Assistant to Santa Clara Director of Athletics, Renee Baumgartner, last fall.  In this new role, Marquess, who served as Stanford head baseball coach for 41 years and is the fourth winningest coach in Division I history, is a mentor for all Santa Clara coaches and staff, serving on campus committees, supporting development, and working on special projects.

NEWCOMERS IN ACTION
•Eighteen newcomers made their Bronco debuts on opening weekend along with RHP Matthew McGarry who sat out last season after transferring from Vanderbilt.  
•In all, 20 newcomers have seen action this season, the last one being catcher Ben McKnight, who made his Bronco debut as a pinch-hitter against Washington (April 16).  
•At least three newcomers have been in the starting lineup in each of the 41 games this season.  
-A season-high seven freshmen started on the field against UC Davis (March 26).
•Freshmen Dawson Brigman has started in 40 of the 41 games including the first 32 games before sitting out the game against Pacific on April 14.  Freshman Connor Henriques has started the second most games among newcomers with 36.
•Brigman is the only newcomer who has started the same position in the game he has played in this season (40 games for Brigman at short.  Henriques has started in 35 of 36 games at third.   
•The freshmen have accounted for 46.4% the Bronco hit totals this season (140 of 302) with Brigman leading the way with 33 hits.  
•The newcomers have accounted for 78.8% of the innings pitched (291 1/3 innings out of 369 2/3) with Grant leading the way with 54 innings.   
•Jew leads all newcomers with four home runs and is tied for second on the team.
•Brigman (vs. SJSU, Feb. 17), Jew (vs. SJSU, Feb. 17), fellow freshmen Blake Faddoul (vs. Washington State, Feb. 24) and Connor Henriques (vs. Portland, April 27) each have gone yard.  
•Junior college transfers Brendan Ecklebarger (Feb. 22) and Keegan McCarville (Feb. 23) picked up their first career wins against Washington State.
•Junior college transfer Ethan Heinrich earned his first career save against Washington State (Feb. 23).  
•Twin brothers Locke Bernhardt and Holden Bernhardt made their Bronco debuts in, appropriately, a twin bill against San José State on opening day (Feb. 16).
Holden Bernhardt made his first start on the mound on Sunday against CSUN (March 24) and Locke Bernhardt followed suit making his first start on Tuesday against UC Davis (March 26) where he tossed five hitless innings to earn his first win.
 
HOME RUNS
•The Broncos have hit 29 home runs collectively by eight different players (12 by MacNichols, four each by Jew, Dicochea and Nnebe, two by McCarthy plus one each by Brigman, Faddoul and Henriques).  
•The first 12 home runs hit by the Broncos were all solo shots until Jake MacNichols' 3-run shot against LMU (March 16).  
•Twenty of the 29 home runs this season have been solo homers.  
 
STREAKS
Jake MacNichols had reached base safely in 14 straight games until the streak was snapped on April 19.  
Jason Dicochea had a 12-game hitting streak and reached base safely in the 16 games until it was snapped against San Francisco on Sunday.   
•MacNichols hit a home run in three consecutive games (Feb. 23 - March 1).  
 
NOTABLE
Brandon Buckley threw a career-high 5 1/3 innings in relief against LMU (March 16) after tossing five innings in his previous appearance vs Omaha (March 9).  Coming off an injury last season, the redshirt sophomore has allowed just four earned runs in 21.1 innings this season (1.69 ERA).
•Buckley's start on April 23 was his first in over two years.  The redshirt sophomore sat out all last season due to an injury and returned to pick up his first career win against Cal Poly on April 23.  
Jake MacNichols is third in the WCC with 12 home runs and eighth in slugging percentage (.541)  
Cam Allie is sixth in the league in sacrifice bunts with six.    
•Bronco closers redshirt senior Eric Lex and junior Ethan Heinrich have combined for four saves and have allowed just four earned runs in 32 innings while striking out 37.
Russell Grant II is eighth in the conference with a 2.50 ERA. 
 
SCHEDULE

Single-game tickets priced at $10 are available. Group discounts are also available through our ticket office sales and service consultants. Gates to Stephen Schott Stadium, as well as its ticket booth, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.
 
PARKING
Parking is available in the Guadalupe lot, adjacent to 455 El Camino Real. The Guadalupe lot is reserved beginning 60 minutes before game time through the end of the event for free parking. Baseball parking is no longer allowed in the lot behind Schott Stadium's left field wall. Overflow parking is available in the Leavey Center lot. Spectators that plan to arrive more than an hour prior to game time on weekdays are encouraged to purchase a parking permit for the Leavey lot. All SCU lot parking is free on weekends.
