SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball pitcher Eric Lex was named All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
The Redding, California, native appeared in 12 games, all out of the bullpen to tie for the team lead and recorded all three saves for the Broncos in conference play. The right-hander allowed an earned run in only two of his conference appearances, limited the opposition to an .182 batting average and finished with an 1.69 ERA.
For the season, the fifth-year senior pitched in a total of 20 games spanning 25 1/3 innings, fanned 32 batters and allowed just three earned runs for a minuscule 1.07 ERA.
This is the first all-conference honor for Lex.
The all-conference selection is based on the player's performance in the conference games and selected by the 10 conference head coaches.
BYU, the regular season conference champion, took home two of the five major hardwares: Brock Hale was named WCC Player of the Year and Mike Littlewood was named Coach of the Year. LMU's Cody Paiva was named WCC Pitcher of the Year, Saint Mary's Tyler Thornton was named Freshman of the Year and LMU's Nick Sogard was named Defensive Player of the Year.
