Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball – Cade Connolly
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the second member of the 2020 recruiting class, Cade Connolly.   The left-handed pitcher hails from Santa Margarita Catholic High in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.

"I chose Santa Clara because of Coach Filter, his experience and culture on the field - especially the details shown day in and day out. His pitching philosophy and program were determining factors in my decision," said Connolly.

The 6-foot-4 Connolly helped lead Santa Margarita Catholic High to the 2019 Division 2 California Interscholastic Federation Championship in May on a team that included six Division I baseball players in the 2020 class.   The Dana Point, California native averaged 12 strikeouts per nine innings over the course of the season.

Over the summer, Connolly earned all-tournament honors at the 2019 Perfect Game 17U World Series tournament after fanning 44 batters over 27.2 innings allowing just one run and walking five.

A four-year varsity pitcher in the competitive Trinity League, Connolly previously pitched for JSerra Catholic High where he was part of the Boras Classic Championship squad during his sophomore year.

This fall, he is pitching for the Oakland A's scout team.

"Cade comes to Santa Clara from elite programs in Santa Margarita Catholic High School and the Saddleback Cowboys.  He is a left-handed pitcher that we believe has been prepared to provide significant innings with multiple pitches for strikes.  He is a well rounded young man and the Broncos are glad he is on our team," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter.

Our next future Bronco, Kenny DeCelle, will be announced the week of Dec. 2.
