Baseball Wins 8-5 Over Cal Poly on Tuesday
SANTA CLARA, Calif.Coleman Brigman and Matt Jew each drove in two runs as part of a five-run sixth inning to give Santa Clara baseball an 8-5 win over Cal Poly on Tuesday night at Schott Stadium.

Santa Clara (9-5) sent nine batters to the plate in the sixth including a two-RBI triple by Coleman Brigman to bring home old brother Dawson Brigman and Matt Erickson to break the 3-all tie against Ryan Jameson.

Reliever Kyle Scott came in place of Jameson and subsequently threw a wild pitch to score Coleman Brigman to give Santa Clara a three-run cushion, 6-3.  With the bases empty, Scott plunked Jason Dicochea for the fifth hit batmen by the Mustangs staff prompting the umpire to eject both Scott and head coach Larry Lee after both teams were given a warning earlier in the game.

Against Cal Poly's (4-9) third pitcher of the inning, Craig Colen, Jake MacNichols singled to put two runners on base before Jew capped off the five run inning with a double to score a pair of runs to go up 8-3.

The Broncos used a season-high seven pitchers and had two hit batsmen.  Cal Poly got on the board in the top of the third against Alex Reelfs who replaced starter Travis Howard.  The Mustangs went up 2-0 on RBI hits by Bradlee Beesley and Myles Emmerson.

In the home half of the third, Ryan McCarthy hit a bases clearing double off Mustangs starter Dylan Villalobos who loaded the bases on a pair of hit batsmen and a single to Dicochea.  The three RBI double gave SCU a 3-2 lead that Cal Poly tied it in the fifth on Emmerson's sacrifice fly.

Four of Santa Clara's nine hits went for extra bases with three of those driving home all seven runs.  Beesley and Emmerson combined to drive home all five Mustangs runs.
