Cole Kitchen Named WCC Pitcher of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – A career performance for Cole Kitchen helped the right hander nab West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Broncos Friday starter set career-highs in both innings pitched as he went 8 2/3 and strikeouts with 15 while walking just one. Kitchen ended up with a no-decision but Santa Clara walked it off against LMU in the 10th inning.

High strikeout totals are nothing new to Kitchen this season as he currently sits ninth in the country with 15.03 strikeouts per nine innings. He has struck out more than one batter per inning in each of his seven appearances and has 59 punchouts in 35 1/3 innings.

Santa Clara has taken both WCC series to start the season and is in a tie for third in the conference standings. The Broncos have won six of eight overall and have a 15-8 record on the season.

They are back in action tomorrow at Cal Poly before heading to Pacific for a weekend series.
