Baseball Topped at BYU

PROVO, Utah – Santa Clara lost for the second consecutive night at BYU, this time by a score of 10-0.

The Broncos (17-12, 6-5 WCC) bats were bettered by the Cougars (16-12, 5-6 WCC) arms, collecting a total of seven hits and two walks. The BYU bats had a bit of success early but really got going late, scoring eight times in the final three times at bat.

Every Cougar starter had at least on hit with Brock Watkins, Ozzie Pratt, Mitch McIntyre, and Austin Deming each collecting two. Watkins added three RBIs and McIntyre and Dawsen Hall knocked in two runs each. Hall and Jacob Wilk both hit home runs as well.

Bryce Robison (5-0) tossed the final 5 innings on four hits with seven strikeouts to collect the win. Starter Ryan Brady went just 4 innings and got a no-decision while allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Efrain Manzo finished 3-for-3 with a walk and Coleman Brigman collected two hits, including a double, to extend his on base streak to 28 games.

Nick Sando (3-2) started and took the loss in 4 innings. He allowed two runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
