Season Wraps-Up With Defeat at No. 24 TCU for Baseball

FORT WORTH, Texas – The 2022 season came to an end for Santa Clara baseball with a 9-1 loss in eight innings at TCU on Saturday. No inning could start after 12:30 p.m. due to Santa Clara's flight.

The game was close until the late innings when the Horned Frogs (35-18) got their offense going with two in the sixth and four in the seventh to put things away.

Tommy Sacco led the way with a pair of home runs, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Porter Brown finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI and Elijah Nunez scored twice with two walks and an RBI out of the leadoff spot.

Riley Cornello (4-4) went 6 innings in the start to collect the win. He allowed a run on four hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.

The Broncos (24-29) had a chance to tie the game or take the lead in the top of the sixth when they loaded the bases with one out. Down 3-1, Santa Clara couldn't get a run across and squandered the opportunity.

Michael Diaz knocked in Santa Clara's run with a home run in the fourth that cut the deficit to 2-1 at the time. Coleman Brigman added a pair of hits with Robert Hipwell, Matt Jew, and Cal Christofori all getting in the hit column as well.

It was a loss for Jared Feikes who went 2 2/3 innings. Feikes (5-6) allowed two runs on four hits with five walks and two strikeouts.
