B.K. Santy joined the Santa Clara University baseball program in November 2017 as an assistant coach where he served as the Broncos’ hitting and catching coach as well as the team’s first base coach until June 2021.

In 2020, Santy helped the Broncos offense finish in the top-35 nationally in doubles, triples and home runs. SCU was top-three in the West Coast Conference in those categories plus runs and slugging percentage. The .803 team OPS (.361 OBP and .442 SLG) was the highest since 2010.

At the conclusion of the 2020 campaign, D1Baseball.com named Jake MacNichols (1.048 OPS) as one of the top senior hitters in the nation and Matt Jew (.308/.491/.641) as one of the top sophomore hitters to highlight the steady player development.

Under Santy's tutelage, MacNichols raised his batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage in each of the past three seasons while belting 16 home runs in 2019, the highest single-season total for a Bronco since Scott Dierks hit 18 in 2003.

Santy mentored three Bronco hitters picked in the MLB draft.

Jake Brodt was selected in the ninth round of the 2018 MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays after an illustrious career on the Mission campus where he finished in the top-10 in six career categories.

Both John Cresto (Colorado Rockies) and Andre Nnebe (Milwaukee Brewers) were 28th round picks in the the 2018 and 2019 drafts, respectively.

The San Diego, California native, came from the University of Utah, where he was a volunteer assistant coach.

Prior to Santy's stint at Utah, he spent two seasons at the University of California as first base coach and working primarily with the catchers. In 2016, Cal catcher Brett Cumberland earned All-America honors, was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year and a Golden Spikes semifinalist, before being selected in the second-round of the MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves.

In 2015, Santy was the catching coach at Palomar College helping Palomar reach the state Final Four Championships in the California Community College Athletic Association. Catcher Francis Christy was the ABCA Pacific Association Division Player of the Year and a first-team All-American. He was a seventh-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Santy also served as the graduate assistant at the University of San Diego before his time at Palomar.

He played two seasons (2011-12) at the University of Washington, making 80 starts among 91 appearances with all but one start coming behind the dish. He hit .285 with 32 RBI and 12 doubles with the Huskies. Santy transferred to Washington from Palomar, where he was a first-team All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference selection as a sophomore.  After his senior season, Santy was drafted in the 2012 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins and played parts of three minor league seasons.

Santy received his bachelor's degree in history from Washington in 2012 before obtaining a master's degree in education from East Central University in 2016.
