SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Jamie Holmes scored a career-high 24 points and Santa Clara defeated St. Mary's (Calif.) 90-67 on Thursday night in a WCC contest for its fourth win in the last five games.

Brian Jones added 20 points and David Emslie recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds the Broncos (2-1, 10-8) beat St. Mary's for the 10th time in the last 13 meetings.

Jovan Harris matched his career high with 23 points to lead the Gaels (0-3, 2-14), who lost their season-high seventh straight. Chris Schlatter added 16 points.

St. Mary's, which won three of 14 conference games last year, has been outscored by an average of 20 points a game this season. The Gaels have allowed 80 or more points 10 times, and have given up 100 points on four occasions.

After St. Mary's scored to open the second half, the Broncos went on an 11-0 run to up their lead to 59-38 four minutes into the half. Santa Clara eventually led by as many as 27 points.

Holmes scored 19 of his points in the first half, 10 coming in the game's first five minutes, as Santa Clara took a 10-point lead eight minutes into the contest, and led by as many as 15 before settling for a 48-36 halftime lead.
