Brian Jones led the Broncos (11-9, 3-2), scoring nine of his 14 in the second half. Justin Holbrook and Kyle Bailey came off the bench to score 12 each for Santa Clara.

There were seven lead changes in the first half. Gonzaga took the lead with four minutes remaining in the first half and never trailed again.

Down by five with 2:24 remaining in the game, Santa Clara was forced to foul to gain possession. But the Bulldogs shot well from the line, hitting 4 of 6 free throws during that period. Gonzaga finished 31 of 51. The Broncos hit 15 of 21 free throw attempts.

With his start, Bronco senior Brian Jones moved into sole possession of second-place on the Santa Clara list for career starts with 104. He is three shy of Kurt Rambis' school record.
