PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Kyle Bailey and Justin Holbrook snapped a tie with six late free throws as Santa Clara defeated Portland 60-56 Saturday night.
Jamie Holmes led the Broncos (12-9, 4-2 WCC) with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Tim Frost led Portland (9-10, 2-4) with a game-high 18 points and Travis Andrews added 10.
Close throughout, Santa Clara took a 56-54 lead with 1:20 remaining when Bailey hit two free throws.
Portland, which shot just 31 percent, came up empty on its next trip. Bailey then made two free throws after being fouled while grabbing an offensive rebound.
With 14 seconds left Holbrook hit two free throws to seal the victory. He and Brian Jones had 11 each.
The win was Santa Clara's fourth in five games. The loss was Portland's third in a row.
