SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Jamie Holmes scored a career high 26 points as Santa Clara defeated Loyola Marymount 74-66 on Thursday night in a WCC contest.

Kyle Bailey added 13 points, all in the first half, as the Broncos (6-3, 14-10) beat LMU for the sixth straight time.

Marcus Smith led Loyola Marymount (3-6, 7-15) with 13 points. Robert Davis and Tyler McClenahan each added 10 points and Pablo Machado grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Brian Jones, who scored 14 points, became Santa Clara's all-time leader in games started at 108, breaking a tie with Kurt Rambis. He also recorded three assists to move into a second place tie with Eddie Joe Chavez, 22 behind leader Steve Nash.

The Broncos went on a 15-3 run early in the second half, holding LMU without a point during one five-minute stretch, to take a 51-34 edge. Steve Ross' three-pointer at the 13-minute mark culminated the rally.

The Lions responded with a 16-3 run over the next six-plus minutes. Davis made a pair of free throws as LMU closed within 56-52 with 6:27 left.

LMU eventually tied the game at 58 when Davis sank a jumper with 3:46 left.

Holmes came back with a three-pointer and Jones converted a three-point play to put the Broncos back on top.

Santa Clara outscored the Lions 13-2 in the final 3:22 of the first half to erase a five-point deficit and take a 33-27 halftime lead.
