SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Craig Lewis matched his career high with 20 points as Pepperdine beat Santa Clara 85-74 on Saturday.

Kelvin Gibbs, who leads the WCC in rebounding, recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

David Lalazarian added 16 points as the Waves (9-1, 17-6 West Coast) won for the 11th time in the last 12 games, including the last seven on the road. Brandon Armstrong, the WCC scoring leader, had 15 points to reach double figures for the 22nd time this season.

Steve Ross scored a career-high 19 points to lead Santa Clara (14-11, 6-4). Justin Holbrook added 13 points.

An 11-0 run, sparked by a pair of three-pointers from Ross, gave Santa Clara a 14-10 lead, but the Waves came back for a 36-34 halftime lead.

Pepperdine opened the second half with an 11-2 run to open a 47-36 lead on Boomer Brazzle's basket with 16:45 remaining.

The Waves took a 14-point advantage seven minutes later. Santa Clara responded with a 12-2 run and closed to 66-62 on Jones' layup with 6:50 left.

Brian Jones, who finished with 16 points, also had seven assists to move into sole possession of second place on the Santa Clara assist list, 21 behind leader Steve Nash. Jones is 11 assists short of becoming the first player in WCC history to record 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists.

Broncos forward Jamie Holmes, who scored a career-high 26 points in his last outing, was held scoreless for the first time in 65 career games.
