SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sophomore Andre Bobbitt, a 6'-6" forward on the Santa Clara University men's basketball team, has decided to leave the University and transfer to another school to complete his academic degree, school officials announced today.

A native of Riverbank, Calif., Bobbitt played in 19 games during the 2000-2001 season and averaged 1.1 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. He shot .450 from the field and averaged just over seven minutes of playing time per game. He is not enrolled in the spring quarter at Santa Clara.

"We appreciate the contributions Andre made to our basketball program as well as to our university," said Head Coach Dick Davey. "We certainly wish him well in all his future endeavors."

With Bobbitt's departure, the Broncos have one open scholarship available to award during the NCAA's spring signing period, which began Wednesday, April 11.
