The men's team will open the newly-renovated Leavey Event Center in regular-season home-opener on Dec. 13 against head coach Jerry Tarkanian's Fresno State Bulldogs. The women's squad will play its first two regular-season home games against Pacific and Providence at Bellarmine College Prep. The Bronco women are scheduled to play their first game in the Leavey Center against Maryland on Dec. 27.

The Bronco men will play 13 home games during the 2000-2001season, including the annual Cable Car Classic scheduled for Dec. 29-30 at the Leavey Event Center. Stanford, George Mason and Fordham are scheduled to participate in the annual event. Regular-season contests against Nevada, Murray State and Idaho State compliment the always tough West Coast Conference schedule that will begin in January.

The Bronco women host 12 home games this season, including contests against nationally-recognized opponents such as the University of Maryland and 1993 national champion Texas Tech. In addition, the Santa Clara women's squad will play Columbia from the Ivy League as well as Providence from the Big East and Pacific. The tough WCC schedule begins Jan. 11 against Pepperdine.

Due to a $15 million renovation to the Leavey Event Center, both teams will practice for approximately six weeks at the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center. All exhibition games as well as the first two regular-season women's games will be played at Bellarmine College Prep. There will be no charge for admission to those games.
