SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Steve Ross scored 20 points to lead Santa Clara to a 68-50 non-conference victory over Loyola, Md. Friday night.

Ross scored 15 of his points in the first half, as Santa Clara (5-8) took a 38-25 advantage.

Santa Clara led 15-4 after the first seven minutes. Loyola (2-10) later closed the gap to 21-18 with a 7-0 run, but Santa Clara then scored seven points in a row - four by Ross - to regain control. A later streak of 10 straight points gave Santa Clara a 38-22 lead with a minute left in the half.

Santa Clara led by as many as 27 points in the second half - 59-32 with 7:17 remaining after a run of 11 consecutive points.

Jordan Legge and Brad Anderson each scored eight points for Santa Clara. B.J. Davis led Loyola with 12 points, while Delonnie Southall scored nine and Doug Jenifer 8.

Legge and Loyola's Bernard Allen led their respective teams with nine rebounds each.

Santa Clara has won four straight games and Loyola has lost five straight.
