Broncos to Face WCC Foe Loyola Marymount Saturday in Leavey

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's basketball team will return to the Leavey Center Saturday for an important West Coast Conference matchup against Loyola Marymount in front of the Fox Sports Net television cameras in a rare 3 p.m. tipoff.

The game will feature Bronco Kidz Day with all members of the official youth organization being eligible to participate in a variety of special events. The Santa Clara cheerleaders will be conducting face and sign painting before the game in the Southeast corner of the Leavey Center. In addition, all Bronco Kidz will be invited to form a tunnel on the court for pregame introductions.

At halftime of the game, the national champion women's soccer team will be honored and all players and coaches in attendance will be available for a postgame autograph session. Following the game there will be a postgame celebration at The Bronco, a new on-campus student gathering place in the Benson Memorial Center.

Santa Clara is 7-11 on the season and 2-3 in the WCC following a tough 74-67 loss to league-leading Pepperdine Thursday night at the Leavey Center. Freshman Jordan Legge recorded a career night for the Broncos with a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds. Steve Ross recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards, while senior Brian Vaka equalled his season high with 11 points.

Loyola Marymount enters the game with a 9-10 overall record and 2-3 mark in the WCC after dropping a 73-60 decision at the University of San Diego on Thursday. Greg Lakey and Kent Dennis each scored 14 points to lead the Lions, who forced the Toreros into 15 turnovers in the game.

Veteran broadcaster Glen Kuiper will call the play-by-play for the Fox Sports broadcast, while current UC Riverside athletic director and former college basketball coach Stan Morrison will provide color analysis of the game.
