SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Steve Ross scored 31 points, and Kyle Bailey added 20 as Santa Clara beat Loyola Marymount 74-64 on Saturday.

The Broncos (8-11, 3-3) rebounded from a loss to West Coast Conference-leading Pepperdine with another outstanding game from Ross, who scored a career-high 38 points against Gonzaga two weeks ago.

Ross hit six 3-pointers and nine free throws, while Bailey went 14-for-16 from the free-throw line. Jason Westphal had 13 rebounds for the Broncos, who won despite shooting 32 percent and nearly blowing a large lead.

Santa Clara broke open a close game with a 12-3 run midway through the second half. The Broncos went more than three minutes without a point late in the game as the Lions cut the lead to 66-60, but Ross and Bailey hit eight free throws in the final 1:10 to seal the win.

Kent Dennis had 17 points and six rebounds for Loyola Marymount (9-11, 2-4), while Keith Kincade and Robert Davis added 12 points apiece. The Lions were outrebounded 40-33, and they committed 17 turnovers.
