Fans Welcome to NCAA West Regional Open Practice

March 19, 2002

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The general public is invited to attend Wednesday's practice sessions for this weekend's NCAA Men's Basketball West Regional. Each of the four teams competing in this event will have a one-hour practice between noon and 4 p.m. at the Compaq Center at San Jose. Parking is free, as is admission.

"Open practice is a great way to come out and see the teams that are in the West Regional, especially since the event is sold out," said Cheryl L. Levick, Santa Clara's Director of Athletics. "It's a great opportunity to see the teams who will be playing for a chance to advance to the NCAA Final Four and check out the Compaq Center at San Jose."

Santa Clara University is the host institution for the West Regional that is scheduled to begin on Thursday. Second-seeded Oklahoma will face the region's third seed, Arizona, in the first game, scheduled to start at 4:55 p.m. Pacific Time. Eighth-seeded UCLA will battle 12th-seeded Missouri later that evening. The winners will face each other on Saturday for the right to advance to the 2002 NCAA Final Four at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga.
