SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University senior forward Steve Ross has been honored as a member of the All-Canadian NCAA team as selected by hoops.ca, a website devoted to covering amateur and professional basketball in Canada.
Ross, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, finished his collegiate career last spring as one of the top shooters in Santa Clara history. He entered the school's record books in 2001-2002 as one of the top-10 career three-point shooters and was a first-team all-West Coast Conference selection.
He finished his senior season ranked fifth in the WCC in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game. His .850 shooting from the free throw line was third in the league and he was third in three-pointers per game with 2.64. Ross' 38-point outburst at Gonzaga was the second-highest single-game total in the WCC this season and was the ninth-best performance in Bronco history.
Ross is one of the top 50 Canadian scorers in NCAA history with 812 career points, which includes his freshman season at the University of San Diego. Former Bronco, and current NBA all-star for the Dallas Mavericks, Steve Nash is sixth on that list with 1,689 points, while Brendan Graves is just out of the top-50 with 560 career points. Ross and Graves each played just two seasons at Santa Clara.
