Clash of the County Scheduled for Tuesday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The rivaly between Santa Clara University and San Jose State resumes Tuesday night in the annual Clash of the County, a men and women's basketball doubleheader scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Leavey Center.

The first game of the doubleheader features the Bronco women against San Jose State at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at approximately 8 p.m. Tickets to the event are available by calling the Santa Clara athletic ticket office at 408/554-4660.

The Santa Clara women's basketball team is 3-1 on the season following Saturday's championship game win over 25th-ranked Washington in the Seattle Times Husky Classic. Junior Tammy Annas was named the tournament's most valuable player after scoring a game-high 21 points against the host Huskies. The win marked the second of the season for Santa Clara over a team ranked among the nation's top-25. In the season-opener, the Broncos knocked-off 24th-ranked Utah in the first round of the Golden Gopher Classic in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Bronco men are 0-3 on the season following back-to-back losses at Pacific-10 Conference opponents on the road. Santa Clara dropped a 67-60 decision at Cal last Tuesday then fell 69-49 at the University of Washington on Saturday. Sophomore guard Kyle Bailey leads the Broncos in scoring with an average of 15.3 points per game.
