RENO, Nev. (AP) - Garry Hill-Thomas scored 28 points to lead Nevada to a 78-53 victory over Santa Clara on Saturday night.

Terrance Green added 25 for the Wolf Pack, (4-1), which outscored the Broncos 47-26 in the second half in front of 4,019 at Lawlor Events Center.

Jordan Legge had 12 points and Steve Ross 10 for Santa Clara, (1-4), which matched its worst start since the 1970-71 season, when it went 1-8 to start the year.

The Broncos pulled to within 45-38 with 12:43 to play in the game, but the Wolf Pack responded with a 23-7 run over the next seven minutes to put the game out of reach.

Hill-Thomas had nine points during the run and Green seven for Nevada.

Nevada led 31-27 at halftime despite going one seven-minute stretch without a field goal as Santa Clara built a 17-10 lead with 9:20 left in the first half.

Hill-Thomas hit a pair of baskets and Green scored 11 straight points to put Nevada ahead 25-20 with 4:20 left.

Santa Clara tied the game at 25 with 2:05 left in the half, but could get no closer than two the rest of the game.
