Men's Hoops To Play Exhibition Game Friday

Nov. 13, 2002

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's basketball team will play its only exhibition game of the preseason when it takes on the Olympic Club Friday night at the Leavey Center.

The contest will be the second game of a doubleheader with the Santa Clara women, who will face a club team from Slovakia at 6 p.m. The men's contest is expected to tipoff at approximately 8:15 p.m. There will be no admission charge for either game.

The Olympic Club squad is 1-1 in its last two games against college teams after dropping a 84-67 decision at Stanford Tuesday night at Maples Pavilion. Last weekend, the Olympic Club knocked-off the University of San Francisco 80-73 at USF's Memorial Gymnasium. Former Stanford guard Kris Weems scored 23 points and shot 7-of-11 from the field, while former Bronco John Woolery added 13 points to lead the team to the upset victory.

Santa Clara opens its regular season on the road with a Nov. 22 game at Pacific. The Broncos open their home season on Nov. 25 with a 7 p.m tipoff against UC Santa Cruz. That game opens a three-game homestand that includes contests against Montana State (Nov. 27) and rival San Jose State (Nov. 30).
