FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Rolando Todd came off the bench to score 20 points and hit key late free throws to give Fresno State a 70-55 victory against Santa Clara Wednesday.

Todd, the Bulldogs' starting point guard, sat for the first four minutes because he was late to a Wednesday afternoon shootaround.

He hit six free throws in the final 1:57, though, and helped with a defense that held Santa Clara (3-2) to 30.6 percent shooting.

Kyle Bailey led Santa Clara with 15 points. Damon Jackson, Noel Felix and Jonathan Woods added 10 for Fresno State, and guard Travis DeManby had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Fresno State controlled a 24-20 lead after the first half and kept cinching down the Broncos offense.

"It was an ugly game, but that doesn't matter," Fresno State coach Ray Lopes said. "We found a way to win."
