SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Alvin Snow scored 22 of his season-high 28 points in the first half to help Eastern Washington beat Santa Clara 65-54 on Saturday night.

Marc Axton added 15 points as the Eagles (4-9) ended a three-game losing streak and won on the road for the first time in 10 games. Freshman Matt Nelson had a season-high 11 rebounds.

Doron Perkins scored 16 points to lead Santa Clara (8-7), which lost for the fifth time in seven games following a six-game winning streak. Travis Niesen added 13 points and a career-high three assists.

Snow, who missed his career high by one point, moved into ninth-place on the Eastern Washington career scoring list with his performance. He has 1,141 points.

Eastern Washington erased an early deficit with a 13-2 run for a 15-9 lead. The Eagles took advantage of a Santa Clara shooting drought in which the Broncos missed 10 consecutive field goal attempts.

Snow, 6-of-19 from the floor in his previous two games, exploded for 22 first-half points on 9-of-11 shooting, including a 4-of-6 effort from 3-point range. One of his 3-pointers was an off-balanced, fadeaway jumper that just beat the shot clock late in the half.

The Eagles eventually opened a 16-point lead before settling for a 38-25 lead at halftime. Snow and Axton accounted for all but five of the Eagles' first-half points.
