WCC Basketball Tournament Pairings Set

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The West Coast Conference officially released the pairings for next week's annual league men's and women's basketball championships, scheduled for Friday through Monday at Santa Clara University's Leavey Center.

    Members of Santa Clara University's Ruff Riders will be able to purchase tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the Benson Center on campus. The top 400 Ruff Riders who attended the most athletic events during the course of the year will receive priority and be eligible to purchase tickets on Monday. If there are remaining tickets on Tuesday at 10 a.m., the next 200 Ruff Riders on the list will be able to purchase at that time. Any remaining student tickets will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Benson Center to any member of Ruff Riders.

    A limited number of single-session general admission tickets for the men's tournament will go on sale Monday at 9 a.m. in the Santa Clara Athletic Ticket Office. For information, contact 408/554-4660. Not all session will be available for sale, depending on availability.

    The Bronco men's team enters the four-day event as the tournament's fifth seed and will play eighth-seeded San Diego Friday night in the second game of the two-game session at approximately 8 p.m. Sixth-seeded Portland will face Loyola Marymount in the opener at 6 p.m.

    The winner of the Santa Clara/San Diego game will play fourth-seeded San Francisco on Saturday at approx. 8 p.m., upon the completion of the contest between third-seeded Pepperdine and the winner of the LMU/Portland contest. The semifinals are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sunday evening and the championship will be played Monday night at 9 p.m. For a complete bracket of the tournamet, click here.

    On the women's side, the Broncos will face San Francisco in the first round of the tournament. Santa Clara enters the event as the tournament's number six seed and will play seventh-seeded San Francisco at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday. The first game of the opening session, which begins at noon, will match fifth-seeded Saint Mary's versus eighth-seeded San Diego.

    The winner of the Santa Clara/San Francisco will take-on third-seeded Pepperdine at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, while the Saint Mary's/USD winner will play fourth-seeded Portland at noon. The semifinals are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday with the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
