Catching Up With Brandon Rohe

Catching Up With Brandon Rohe
Santa Clara University men's basketball standout Brandon Rohe enters his sophomore season in 2003-04 having entered the Bronco freshman record books in several categories. He even surpassed NBA superstar Steve Nash's first-year record for three-pointers. Recently SantaClaraBroncos.com caught up with Brandon during a hectic summer schedule to check out with he's been up to.

Q: What have you been up to this summer?
A: "I have had a great summer, working out, lifting, relaxing and I went to four weddings. I also played in a summer basketball league and went to a basketball camp in N.J. All that, and I attended summer school at Santa Clara. So, as you can tell, it's been a bit busy to say the least!"

Q: What are your personal goals for the upcoming season?
A: "I would really like to develop into an all-conference player and lead our team to winning the conference championship."

Q: What would you say the team's goals this year will be?
A: "We always set a goal to win our conference and make it to the NCAA tournament. That's pretty much expected."

Q: What are your thoughts on the return of Kyle Bailey?
A: "We are all really looking forward to a healthy return for Kyle and a positive contribution to our squad. He is an all-conference player and a great leader for our team."

Q: If there were a movie based on the life of Brandon Rohe, who would play the lead role and why?
A: `I'd have to say my older brother Jake would have to play the role because he knows me better than anyone. His experiences have had a direct impact on my life. For example, thanks to his high school escapades, I had my high school curfew earlier!"

Q: What about the leading lady?
A: "My mother is obviously the most influential female in my life. She'd play the lead."

Q: What are some of your "off the court" interests or hobbies?
A: "Being from Southern California, I like to go to the beach. I also enjoy listening to music, hanging out with friends, skiing, flyfishing and bike riding."

Q: No-Cal or So-Cal?
A: "SO-CAL without a doubt!. You can't beat home and all the memories of growing up there. I love everything about Santa Clara, but So-Cal is what I am all about."

Q: If you could have one game from last year erased from the record books, which would it be?
A: "That's an easy one. The Saint Mary's first round game in our conference tournament in San Diego because it concluded our season."

Q: Conversely, which game last year did you feel you put out your best performance?
A: "I thought I played okay at San Diego. It was our first conference game and I played against a good friend and lots of old high school fans and friends were there."

Q: What do you think marriage has done to change Coach Sam Scuilli?
A: "His wife must be dressing him because he definitely looks much better!"

Q: Who is the most colorful guy on the team and why?
A: "Linden Tibbets always keeps us amused and entertained with his "southern boy" antics."

Q: Which game on this year's schedule are you most looking forward to?
A: "I'd have to say Oregon. There are a lot of players on both teams who know each other and it will be fun to play at their home court."

Q: If you could pick one day of the year as the "best," which would it be and why?
A: "I really like Christmas because I get to spend time with my family and friends and enjoy our holiday traditions."
