Men's Basketball Plays Final Non-League Road Game

EUGENE, Ore. - The Santa Clara University men's basketball team will be looking begin a new win streak Wednesday night when it plays the final non-conference road game of its season at the University of Oregon.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at McArthur Court (capacity 9,087) on the Oregon campus. The game will be broadcast in the Bay Area on KSFB-AM (1220) and worldwide on the Internet at www.SantaClaraBroncos.com. In addition, the game will be televised live in the state of Oregon as well as through ESPN's Full Court pay-per-view package.

Santa Clara enters the game 6-3 on the season after a disappointing 75-65 loss at Eastern Washington Monday night. The Broncos took a six-game win streak into the game but were unable to overcome an inspired effort from the Eagles in only their third home game of the season. Junior transfer Doron Perkins leads the Broncos in scoring with a 12.4 per game average. The junior transfer has led the Broncos in scoring in three of the last five games. Kyle Bailey is second with a 10.1 per game scoring average but missed the Eastern Washington game due to injury. He is questionable for the Oregon contest.

Santa Clara opened the season with consecutive losses to Hawai'i and Villanova at the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational then rebounded by winning six straight. During that streak, the Broncos posted victories over Central Michigan, Fresno state, San Jose State and Pacific.

Oregon enters the game with a 3-1 overall record after dropping a 77-67 decision at fifth-ranked Kansas on Saturday. The Ducks opened the season with wins over Fresno Stte, Portland State and Marshall. Wednesday's game marks the final home game in December for Oregon and the Ducks currently own a 23-game win streak at home against non-conference opponents.

Santa Clara owns a 6-5 lead in the series between the two schools that dates back to the first encounter during the 1936-37 season. After the Broncos earned a 58-45 win in Eugene during the 1954-55 season, the two teams did not not again until the 1984 NIT, won by Santa Clara 66-53. In the last meeting, Oregon took an 80-65 win during the 1998-99 season.
