Santa Clara University is proud to announce it will partner once again with KDOW 1220 AM to be the exclusive radio home of the Santa Clara University men's basketball program for the 2011-12 season. KDOW will carry all of the games this year as the Bronco battle for the West Coast Conference title. Santa Clara opens in 2011 season with an exhibition vs. Ryerson on Fri., Nov. 4 at 7 pm and then its regular season with a 7 pm game vs. UC Merced on Fri., Nov. 11.

The schedule also features at least eight games on ESPN and eight regionally-televised contests.

Bronco men's basketball head coach Kerry Keating will appear on KDOW's Sports Ramble show with host Chetan Chaudhari, every Sunday evening, starting Sun., Nov. 6, from 9:05-9:20 p.m. to discuss the team's progress and upcoming games. Besides Keating, other head coaches including fourth-year head women's basketball coach Jennifer Mountain will be featured on a regular basis.

The contract will include daily morning updates of Bronco and WCC highlights from Bronco radio voice Anthony Passarelli, ticket giveaways and signage in the Leavey Center.

Santa Clara welcomes back play-by-play announcer Anthony Passarelli for his fifth year at the helm for the men's basketball team and his 11th season with Santa Clara. A San Jose native and graduate of Bellarmine College Prep, Passarelli began his broadcasting career in 1993 as a news/sports reporter at KPAY radio in Chico, Calif.  Passarelli was then the radio play-by-play announcer for the independent Western Baseball League's Salinas Peppers and then the Sports Director for KFBK radio in Sacramento. Passarelli joined KCBS radio in San Francisco as a sports anchor/reporter in 1998. He has won three NorCal RTNDA awards for "Best Sportscast" and "Best Sports Feature".

In addition, Chetan Chaudhari will again serve as the station board operator for the fifth straight season.

"Last year we ended on the high note on KDOW by winning the CIT title and posting 24 wins on the year.  We are excited to continue our relationship with KDOW AM 1220. Bringing our men's basketball games over the radio waves to Bronco fans both in their homes and on the road is important to me. We look forward to tipping off the season with an exhibition vs. Ryerson at the Leavey Center on Friday," said Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan.

"We are extremely pleased to be the radio home of Santa Clara basketball again this season," KDOW AM 1220 General Manager Mike Shields. "We really enjoyed working with them the past few years and look forward to building on that relationship this year. They have a rich basketball tradition, going back to the days of Kurt Rambis, and later Steve Nash. They are a highly recognizable and competitive program, with a sizeable fan base and an active student body and alumni in the Bay Area. We know that they will be well received by our audience. Following last year's Collegeinsider.com Postseason Championship we look for the Bronco's to be contenders in the WCC in 2012.  In addition to their challenging WCC slate, they have an excellent non-conference schedule including New Mexico, Washington State and Pacific.  We invite you to tune in and catch every minute of excitement on AM 1220 KDOW."
