Santa Clara shot 40.0 percent from the field (20 of 50), including 20.0 percent from beyond the arc (3 of 15). Santa Clara collected 24 rebounds, seven assists, seven steals, 15 turnovers and shot 54.5 percent from the free throw line (12 of 22).
The Broncos were led by Kevin Foster's 16 points and three steals (2 of 6 from three, 4 of 5 from free throw line). Niyi Harrison added 14 and Evan Roquemore had 12. Yannick Atanga led the Broncos with 10 boards, adding nine points. Roquemore had a team-high four assists.
Washington State shot 67.4 percent from the field (31 of 46), including 46.2 percent from beyond the arc (6 of 13). Washing State collected 33 rebounds, 19 assists, seven steals, 12 turnovers and shot 78.1 percent from the free throw line (25 of 32).
The Cougars were led by Brock Motum's 27 points and seven boards. Charlie Enquist had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Reggie Moore added 16 points. Three Cougar players had four plus assists with Motum scoring four, Marcus Capers five and Moore five.
The Cougars went on a 9-2 run after the three before SCU went on an 8-0 run of it's own. Foster was clipped on the arm shooting a three at 15:25. He sank all three. Foster stole the ball and passed it to Roquemore who put it in with a two-handed dunk. Brandon Clark sank a five-footer at 13:29 to make it 14-12 WSU at 13:29.
WSU scored eight straight, including a pair of free throws, to make the lead 10, 22-12, at 11:57. Foster sank a three at 10:50, but the Cougs answered inside. The Broncos had seven turnovers in the first 10 minutes.
WSU connected on a three-point play after a Robert Garrett foul at 9:30, 29-15 Cougars. Harrison muscled one in at 8:57.
The Cougs took a 35-19 lead at 6:45. Harrison's jumper at 6:20 was followed by one by Motum. WSU went up 19 after Roquemore was whistled for a technical at 4:17 when he complained about being smacked hard on the arm on the offensive end and Moore hit both, 40-21 Cougars.
Foster's floater was good for two at 4:07. Leading the Cougs on an 8-0 run, Motum hit a three to make the lead 25, 48-23, at 1:29. Timeout Broncos.
Foster stopped the run with a floater at 1:02 and dumped it in with 35 seconds left in the half. The halftime score was 48-27.
In the first half Santa Clara shot 40.7 percent from the field (11 of 27), including 22.2 percent from beyond the arc (2 of 9). They had nine turnovers and were 3 of 5 from the free throw line The Broncos were led by Foster's 12 points and Atanga's four rebounds.
Washington State shot 64.0 percent from the field (16 of 25), including 50.0 percent from beyond the arc (3 of 6). The Cougars were 13 of 19 from the free throw line. Motum had 14 and Enquist and Moore added 12 each with Enquist collecting eight rebounds.
Roqeumore scored inside and made good on a three-point play when fouled at 16:30. Enquist scored his sixth-point of the second half and 18th of the game to make it 59-34. Harrison scored four straight for the Broncos.
DJ Sheldon dunked it with authority at 12:23 before Harrison went inside again at 12:02. Capers followed with another dunk at 11:42.
Moore stole the ball and dunked it at 9:22, putting the Cougars up 71-46.
Foster answered quickly with a three at 9:15. And was fouled at 8:45 and Foster made one, but Moore hit a three to put the Cougs up 27, 74-47 at 7:38.
Harrison kept going inside and scored his 14th points of the day at 6:53. Atanga went strong inside and scored at 6:13.
Patrick Simon's three of the bench and four more free throws pushed the Cougs lead to 35, 90-55 at 2:10. Simon crushed another three to put the Cougs up 38, 93-55 at 1:44.
