SANTA CLARA, Calif. – On May 31, the Santa Clara Athletic Department celebrated the hard work of its senior student-athletes at the Senior Send Off. The Bronco Bench Foundation and Bronco Athletic Director Dan Coonan applauded the athletic and academic accolades that the Class of 2012 achieved, while telling the seniors to not forget that they will always be a Bronco.
The Senior Send Off was held by the BBF and the Athletic Department as a way to congratulate the senior student-athletes before the Senior SAAC Awards. The event allowed members of the administration and alums to bid farewell to seniors as they prepare for graduation.
"The Senior Send off is a way for the Athletic Department to thank Bronco student-athletes for their hard work and dedication," said Bronco Associate Athletic Director Fred Smith. "Graduation is the ultimate goal for all student-athletes and we want to celebrate our graduates prior to their departure from the Mission Campus. We want to remind them to stay connected to the department and University, introduce them to their new family, the Bronco Alumni Family, who will support them the rest of their lives."
The Broncos of the Class of 2012 were given a gift from the Athletic Department as well as a sash to wear at commencement on Sat., June 16.
Bronco Bench President Andy Schatzman '83 addressed the seniors, telling them to stay connected and how they are about to enter a new family.
