  • Bronco Athletics Administration Hosts Senior Send-Off For Student-Athletes

    With at least 50 of the more than 60 Santa Clara graduates in attendance, and a number of Bronco coaches and administrators as well, Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan hosted the annual Bronco Senior Send-Off on Thursday night in the Leavey Center. It gave everyone a chance to say goodbye and to thank the seniors for all their efforts athletically and academically.
  • Yannick Atanga Looks Ahead to Next Season

    Yannick Atanga (YA), a rising junior from Yaounde, Cameroon, was an offensive rebounding specialist in his second year of action for the Broncos. Atanga had a smooth transition from living in Cameroon to playing high school basketball in Los Angeles, where he was a John Wooden Award winner. He hopes that he can continue his smooth transition here at Santa Clara. He believes that his improved offensive game will really show on the court next season.
  • Bronco Hoopster Nate Kratch Looks Ahead to Next Season

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Nate Kratch (NK), a freshman from Watertown, Minn., redshirted in his first season on the men’s basketball team. Kratch has high hopes for next season after watching this season from the bench. He was able to learn a lot in his first season as a Bronco, even though he was not suiting up for games. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) was able to sit down with Kratch to talk about his experience on the team thus far and look ahead to next season.
  • Broncos Add Two More Signees to 2013 Class; 2013 Class Has Five Members

    Santa Clara head men’s basketball coach Kerry Keating announced two additional signees for the 2013 Bronco signing class on Wed., May 22, 2013. The new members of the 2013 Santa Clara class are high school senior Emmanuel Ndumanya (Enugu, Nigeria) and Fresno State graduate Jerry Brown (Richmond, Calif.). The class already includes Jared Brownridge (Rockford, Ill.), Jarvis Pugh (Murphy, Texas) and Jalen Richard (San Tan Valley, Ariz).
  • Free ATEO Seminar Hosted By Santa Clara June 8

    Santa Clara Athletics is proud to announce it will host an Athletic Training Education Seminar on Sat., June 8 on the Mission Campus. The ATEO Seminar will be presented by NATA Hall of Fame Athletic Trainer Dr. Rod Walters. Athletic Trainers at both the high school and college level are invited to the Athletic Training seminar at Santa Clara featuring a review of issues facing Athletic Trainers. The Seminar will be free of charge and hosted at the Leavey Center at Santa Clara University.

    The Santa Clara Broncos used a big second half and claimed their second postseason tournament title in three seasons winning the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick in a decisive third game, 80-77 over George Mason on Friday night in Fairfax, Va.

    For the fifth time in six years the Championship Series of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick will go to a winner-take-all third game after the Santa Clara Broncos (25-12) failed to close out the series in Game 2, falling at George Mason (22-15) 73-66 on April 3. Game 3 will take place on Fri., April 5 at the Patriot Center (10,000) on the GMU campus with tipoff set for 4 p.m. (PDT). AXS TV will be televised live nationally. The game will also be broadcast live on www.SantaClaraBroncos.com at 4 pm. It will be rebroadcast on KDOW 1220 AM at 7 pm with Anthony Passarelli making the call.

    Looking to close out the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick with a title on Wednesday night, George Mason had other ideas and Santa Clara fell short 73-66. The two teams will have to return to the Patriot Center on Fri., April 5 in the third and deciding game. The game will be televised on AXS-TV at 4 pm Pacific and also broadcast on the Santa Clara website, www.SantaClaraBroncos.com. The game will be rebroadcast on KDOW 1220 AM at 7 pm Pacific on Friday night.
  • Broncos Beat George Mason to Take 1-0 Lead in CBI Best of Three Finals

    In the first game of the best of three final of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick, Santa Clara topped George Mason by a final of 81-73. It was the eighth consecutive post-season win for the Broncos. Santa Clara will now travel to George Mason to play at 4 pm Pacific on Wed., April 3 on AXS-TV nationally. The game will be rebroadcast on KDOW 1220 AM at 7 pm Pacific.

    Put a college basketball team on the road for six straight days together over Spring Break, playing basketball and spending every waking minute together and you never know what they are going to come up with! Sitting on an empty airplane on a lay-over in Las Vegas on the way home Thursday after winning the CBI Semi-Finals -- the Santa Clara Bronco basketball team, coaches and staff dropped everything and did the Harlem Shake! Brandon Clark started if off dancing a bit and got the whole team - including head coach Kerry Keating - doing it on the plane impromptu!
  • Kevin Foster's Record-Setting Night Leads Broncos Past Wright State and into CBI Finals

    On a record setting night for Bronco senior Kevin Foster, the Santa Clara basketball team advanced to the final of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick with an 81-69 victory over Wright State in Dayton, Ohio. Foster scored 33 points with six threes and four steals. What night it was for Kevin Foster who also is graduating this quarter. After scoring 34 points in the quarterfinal matchup with Purdue on Monday night, Foster becomes just the third Bronco with back-to-back 30-point games. The others are Dennis Awtrey (March 1 and 7, 1969) and Kurt Rambis (Jan. 4 and 5, 1980). Foster also moved into first place on the SCU single season steals list with 85 this year. His six threes put him at No. 5 all-time in the NCAA, moving past Stephen Curry, currently the Golden State Warriors point guard. The win puts Santa Clara at 24-11 and ends Wright State’s season at 23-13.

    The Santa Clara Broncos (23-11) continue their postseason run when they travel to Dayton, Ohio on Wed. March 27 to play the Wright State Raiders (23-12) in the semifinal round game of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick. The game will air on AXS TV live at 6 pm Pacific with Kenny Rice and Darrin Horn making the call. SantaClaraBroncos.com will broadcast the game live with Anthony Passarelli making the call beginning at 6 pm. KDOW 1220 AM will replay the entire game at 8:30 pm.
  • Broncos Win 23rd Game of the Year At Purdue; Advance to Semi-Finals of CBI at Wright State Wednesday

    Coming back to Indiana to play in front of almost 40 friends and family, Santa Clara sophomore Brandon Clark’s two free throws with 8.6 left on the clock helped the Broncos win 86-83 at Purdue University in the second round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick. Santa Clara has won 23 games for just the fourth time in the 106-year school history of basketball; and 23+ games for the second time in three years, having won 24 in 2010-11 when the Broncos won the CIT.

  • Broncos Win 22nd Game Of the Year Vs. Vermont to Advance To Second Round of CBI

    Going on a 7-0 run over a 46 second-span during the last two minutes of play proved to be enough for Santa Clara as the Broncos defeated Vermont 77-67 in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick on Tuesday night. Santa Clara advances to the second round of the CBI and will play March 25 at the winner of the Western Illinois at Purdue game, to be played Wednesday night.

  • Broncos to Host Vermont Tuesday In Sixth Annual CBI

    The 16-team field for the 2013 College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick is complete and Santa Clara (21-11, 9-6) will host Vermont (21-11, 11-5) in the first round at the Leavey Center on Tues., March 19 at 7 pm. The Western Illinois at Purdue winner will host the winner of the Vermont at Santa Clara game on Mon., March 25. It is the Broncos first post-season appearance since it won the 2011 CIT by winning its final three games on the road, including a thrilling 76-69 victory at Iona. Vermont finished tied for second with Boston University in the America East Conference with Stony Brook winning the regular season title.
  • Bronco Men Fall In Final Seconds To LMU In WCC Quarterfinal

    Keeping their unprobable run alive with their third win in three days, No. 9 seed LMU defeated No. 4 seed Santa Clara 60-58 on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament. Santa Clara is 21-11 and LMU is 11-22. LMU advances to play No. 1 Gonzaga at 6 pm Saturday on ESPN2. It will be the Zags first game since taking over the No. 1 spot nationally on March 4.

Santa Clara will play its 50th WCC Tournament game in school history and will face LMU.
