SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Many student-athletes have been working hard, both in summer school classes, and brushing up on their skills. For sophomores Denzel Johnson and Brandon Clark of the Santa Clara men's basketball team, they are more than ready to start their second season off as Broncos. Johnson (DJ) and Clark (BC) shared with SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) what their expectations are from the team and what they are looking forward to for this season.
SCB: How's your summer been?
DJ: My summer has been very interesting. I've been at SCU taking classes, being productive and doing workouts on my own and getting better.
BC: My summer has been pretty good. Mostly working out and getting a head in some of my classes. I've been playing basketball mostly everyday.
SCB: What are you excited about this year?
DJ: I'm excited to see all the new faces that will be here. I think it will be a fun year. For basketball, I cannot wait to get the games going. It will be nice to play against other guys.
BC: I'm excited about being able to play with the same guys from last year. The opportunity to play with all the same guys from last year.
SCB: What are your expectations from your teammates?
DJ: I want everybody to give everything they've got.
BC: I want to win the conference. I want everyone to go for that as well, like every year.
SCB: Any personal goals?
DJ: I want to give 105% on the court every time I play this year.
BC: I hope to take more of a leader role than before.
SCB: Any message to the SCU community?
DJ: Come out and support us. It will be a great season. It will be great to see all of you out there supporting us.
