Fresh off being named the Most Valuable Player of the CBI after shattering the CBI scoring and three pointers made records, Santa Clara senior Kevin Foster will begin play at the Portsmouth Invitational (P.I.T.) on Thursday with his team, Portsmouth Sports Club, when they face Roger Brown's Restaurant at 4 pm.

One of the best players to ever play both in the West Coast Conference and in the Bay Area, Foster ended his Bronco career on April 5 with a 80-77 victory at George Mason, capturing the CBI title. The Broncos finished the year at 26-12, the second-most victories in school history behind the 27-2 record posted by the 1968-69 team. Santa Clara is one of just eight teams in Division I this year to win 15+ games against non-conference teams, joining Duke, Louisville, Michigan, Wichita State, Iowa, Maryland and Syracuse.
Consider these numbers put up by Foster, a native of Katy, Texas who graduated after the Winter 2013 quarter with a degree in Sociology. His 2,423 career points scored is No. 1 all-time in the Bay Area and just 67 points behind Hank Gather's West Coast Conference record 2,490 points (1987-90). He finished the season as the top active career points scorer in Division I this season.
His 431 career three pointers, shattering the WCC record set by Jeff Fryer (363, 1987-90), left him tied at No. 4 in NCAA Division I basketball history with former Tennessee All-American Chris Lofton (2005-08). His 1,184 career threes attempted is No. 2 all-time in NCAA Division I, only eight behind NCAA record holder Saint Peter's Keydren Clark (1,192 attempts, 2003-06).
Foster also owns the single season and career records in the West Coast Conference for threes made. He finished No. 2 in career points and No. 6 in career steals. His 766 points scored in 2010-11 is No. 6 on the single season WCC list and his 732 points this season are good for No. 9 on the same list. His 91 steals this season are No. 5 on the single season WCC list. Foster's 140 threes made in 2010-11 set the single season league record while his 120 threes this season are No. 4 on the same list.
Foster leaves Santa Clara with 14 individual school records! He shattered seven career school records and seven single season school records for the Broncos. The career records include including points scored (2,423), field goals made (771) and attempted (1,975), three pointers made (431) and attempted (1,184), games started (125) and minutes played (4,212). The single season records include points (766), field goals made (241) and attempted (602), three pointers made (140) and attempted (380), steals (91) and minutes played (1,233).
A two-time WCC First Team All-League player who was named the 2009 WCC Newcomer of the Year, Foster scored 15+ points in 89 of his 133 career games playing, including 19+ in 64 career games. He is the only player in WCC history to combine to collect 2,400+ points, 233 steals and 464 assists.
Helping Santa Clara to the 2011 CIT post-season title, Foster averaged 25.4 ppg during that run, collecting two of his eight career 30-point games in the Broncos' five-game title run.
