Denzel Johnson: Slowing Down and Growing Up

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Senior Denzel Johnson (DJ) of the men's basketball team spoke with Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) about personal and shared goals for the year, as well as his maturation since becoming a Bronco.  Come out to the Red and White Scrimmage on Sat., Oct. 11 at 9 am at the Leavey Center! It's free and open to the public.

SCB: This is going to be your senior season as a Bronco. What are your goals for the final campaign, personally and as a team?

DJ: My goal this year is to be the WCC Defensive Player of the Year, and also for the team to win the conference tournament.

SCB: Has being an EyeBronco reporter contributed to your Santa Clara career? How?

DJ: Yes it has. It has given me an opportunity to branch out to other sports and build relationships with other student-athletes, which made my group of support even larger.

SCB: How have you changed as a player in the past three years?

DJ: My basketball IQ has grown which allows me to slow the game down and see things developing before they happen.

SCB: How have you changed as a person in the past three years?

DJ: I have grown up so much in the past three years being on my own and having to take care of business by myself.
