Men’s Basketball’s Brownridge Named to Lou Henson Award Watch List

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's basketball senior Jared Brownridge was named to the Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award preseason watch list for the second straight year.

The award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player. The recipient of the 2017 Lou Henson Award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet on April 31 in Phoenix, Arizona, site of the men's division I basketball championship.

Brownridge, a native of Aurora, Illinois, is one of 50 student-athletes on the preseason watch list. As the fifth-leading scorer in program history (1,716 points), he was also named to the 2016-17 preseason All-West Coast Conference team.

The two-time first-team All-WCC honoree has started all 95 games as a Bronco. He boasts a career average of 17.7 points per game and has scored 30 or more points on six occasions, three of which came during the 2015-16 season.

Brownridge and the Broncos kick off the 2016-17 season this weekend with the Cable Car Classic in Leavey Center. They face Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. Friday, UC Davis at 6 p.m. Saturday and Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
