SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Center Tony Lewis and forward Akil Douglas will not return to the Santa Clara men's basketball team next season, head coach Herb Sendek announced Monday. Both players have received a release from their scholarship.
Lewis, a redshirt freshman from San Antonio, Texas, played in 16 games (one start) this past season, averaging 1.9 points and 1.2 rebounds.
Douglas, a junior transfer from San Jose City College, saw time in 12 games, all as a reserve, averaging 2.2 points.
Douglas and Lewis will remain enrolled at Santa Clara through the end of the spring quarter.
