Men's Basketball Plays Final Home Game on Thursday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball heads into the final week of the season on a roll. The Broncos (11-17, 8-8) have won three straight, including a thrilling road triumph over Pacific on Saturday.

Playing for the final time at home this year, Santa Clara will recognize its four seniors prior to Thursday's Loyola Marymount contest (6:45 p.m). Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Leavey Center in a game presented by Qualtrics.

The Broncos defeated the Lions (8-19, 3-13), who have lost four of five, last month in Los Angeles.

Santa Clara is tied for fifth in the West Coast Conference standings with San Diego and San Francisco, all one game behind Pacific.

• Junior guard KJ Feagin and senior guard/forward Henry Caruso each posted 18 points, and senior center Emmanuel Ndumanya scored 15 with nine rebounds to lead the Broncos to a 72-68 win over Pacific, which had won four of its previous five games. Roberto Gallinat matched his career-high with 24 points and Mile Reynolds tallied 16 for the Tigers who made only one of their final 11 from the floor and were held to 32 percent shooting from the floor in the second half.
• Ndumanya posted a career-high 23 points and freshman forward Josip Vrankic tallied 19 points, including 16 after halftime, to help lead the Broncos to a 81-72 win over Portland. Feagin totaled 15 points, including 13 in the second half, and seven assists, and Caruso scored 11 for Santa Clara, which shot 53 percent from the floor and led for nearly the entire second half.
• Feagin ranks third in the WCC in scoring (17.7 ppg) and seventh in assists (4.2 pg). Caruso is second on the team in scoring (12.2 ppg) and first with 6.8 rebounds per game (No. 7 in the league). Vrankic is third on the team in both scoring (10.8 ppg) and rebounding (4.7 pg), and first in blocks (24). Junior guard Matt Hauser, who has missed the last seven games with a foot injury, is averaging 9.8 ppg and ranks fourth in the WCC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2-to-1). Hauser was injured against San Diego (Jan. 25), playing only nine minutes. Feagin (2.1) and Hauser (2.0) rank seventh and eighth, respectively, in the WCC in 3-pointers per game.
• Caruso is one of only two players in the WCC to rank in the top 20 in scoring (18th), and top 10 in rebounds, steals (eighth - 1.3 pg) and FT percentage (sixth - 83.3). Guard Elijah Bryant of BYU is second in scoring (17.7 ppg), eighth in rebounding (6.6 pg), fifth in steals (1.3 pg) and first in FT percentage (87.4).

YEAR TWO UNDER SENDEK
The Broncos are in their 111th year of existence, including second under Herb Sendek, who has been successful in each of his three previous head-coaching stops. With a resume that includes 18 postseason appearances and three conference coach of the year awards, Sendek, was one of the three youngest coaches with 400 or more career victories He is in his 24th season as a collegiate head coach with stops at Arizona State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio).

QUICK HITS
• Seniors Henry Caruso, Kai Healy, Jarvis Pugh and Emmanuel Ndumanya will be recoginzed prior to the LMU game.
• The Broncos have generally held on to the ball, registering just 11.2 turnovers per game and possessing a +1.4 turnover margin (first in the WCC). LMU is seventth at -0.2.
• LMU junior guard James Batemon is one of the top two-way players in the WCC, ranking fifth in scoring (17.0 ppg), fifth in assists (5.0 pg) and seventh in steals (1.3). Freshman forward Eli Scott (13.2 ppg) and senior guard Steven Haney (12.9) are also averaging in double figures.
• The Lions rank first in the WCC in both steals (6.9 pg) and offensive rebounding (12.9 pg).

THE LOYOLA MARYMOUNT SERIES
In a series that began in 1937, Santa Clara holds a 91-59 lead. The Broncos have won six of the last eight, including a 65-49 victory last month. KJ Feagin posted a game-high 22 points and Henry Caruso scored 13 to lead the Broncos past the Lions who were forced into 19 turnovers, most by a WCC foe this season. The teams have split the regular-season series in four of the last five years. Each team won at home last season, with LMU claiming a 66-56 victory on Jan. 7, and Santa Clara edging the Lions, 64-63, on Jan. 21. Former guard Jared Brownridge scored a game-high 25 points, including a 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left, to lift the Broncos to the thrilling home win.

TRENDS
The Broncos are shooting 43.7 percent from the floor this year, but have been on fire in the last three games, connecting on 52.4 percent (77 of 147) from the floor after hitting only 38.9 percent (63 of 162) in the previous three ... KJ Feagin has connected on 49.1 percent from the floor (54 of 110) in the last six games ... Emmanuel Ndumanya has posted the four highest point totals of his career in the last eight games, including a career-best 23 vs. Portland (Feb. 10). He has shot 41 of 68 from the floor (60.3 percent) in the last 13 ... Santa Clara has posted 40 of its 66 blocks in the last 10 games, including a season-best seven vs. San Diego (Feb. 10) ... Feagin has reached double figures in all but three games (nine points vs. Gonzaga, Dec. 30; nine points vs. BYU, Jan. 13; nine points vs. San Diego, Jan. 25) ... Feagin has 10 of the team's 17 20-point scoring games this year ... Henry Caruso has been off the floor for only 13 minutes in the last 10 games.
