Men's Basketball Senior Advances to Bracket Play at Inaugural 3-on-3 National Championship

SAN ANTONIO, TexasHenry Caruso, a senior this past season on the Santa Clara men's basketball team, will compete for a big pay day on Sunday.

Caruso is one of four players participating for the West Coast Conference team in the inaugural Dos Equis 3x3U National Championship, which is being held in San Antonio, concurrently with the NCAA Final Four.

The WCC squad won all three of its pool games and has advanced to the quarterfinals, which are set for Sunday.

Each of the 32 NCAA Division I conferences have comprised one team in the three-day event that kicked off Friday. Participants are competing for a $100,000 prize pool, including $50,000 to the winning team.

Calvin Hermanson and Cullen Neal of Saint Mary's, and D'Marques Tyson of Portland join Caruso on the WCC team, which defeated the Ohio Valley Conference on Friday, and the American Athletic Conference and Horizon League on Saturday at Bill Greehey Arena.

A native of Burlingame, California, Caruso transferred from Princeton following his graduation last summer. The 6-foot-4 guard/forward was second on Santa Clara in scoring (12.2 ppg). He ranks seventh in the WCC in rebounding (7.0 pg) and sixth in the in steals (1.2 pg).

He is one of two players (also Elijah Bryant, BYU) in the WCC to rank in the top 20 in scoring (19th), and top 10 in rebounding, steals and free throw percentage (fourth - 84.3).
