SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's basketball has added one more forward to its recruiting class with the addition of Josh Martin from Cal Poly.
Martin played his freshman year at Minnesota before transferring to the Mustangs. With the Gophers, he appeared in seven games in 2014-15.
In his first year with Cal Poly, Martin appeared in 21 games and made eight starts while averaging 6.1 points per game. He finished the season with a pair of double-doubles and five double-digit scoring games.
Last season, Martin appeared in five games before sustaining a season-ending injury and redshirting the year. In his shortened season, he set a career-high twice with 17 points and grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds at Pepperdine.
"We are so excited to welcome Josh Martin to our Santa Clara Family. Josh, who will be eligible to play this upcoming season, joins us from Cal Poly," Sendek said. "The Broncos will benefit from his experience, toughness, and versatility. He impacts winning on both ends of the floor, as well as on the glass."
Wynyard and Martin join two other spring additions - DJ Mitchell, a 6-foot-8 forward who transferred from Wake Forest, and Zeke Richards, a 6-foot-11 forward who signed a national letter of intent.
Juan Ducasse (Montevideo, Uruguay), Keshawn Justice (Madison, Wisc.) and Trey Wertz (Charlotte, N.C.) signed in the fall and will be true freshmen in 2018-19.
