Men’s Basketball Signs Two Guards for 2019-20

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball announced Wednesday the signing of two players to national letters of intent for the 2019-20 season.

Jalen Williams, a Gilbert, Arizona native, and Miguel Tomley, who hails from Surrey, British Columbia, will join the Broncos as true freshmen.

Williams, a 6-foot-3 guard who plays at Perry High School, is ranked No. 6 among prep players in Arizona by 247Sports.com. He was the 2017-18 Chandler Unified School District Player of the Year.

One of the top players in Canada, Tomley is a 6-foot-2 guard who plays at Rise Prep in Brantford, Ontario. He led the 2018 B.C. High School Basketball Championships in scoring.

"We are absolutely thrilled to announce the signing of Miguel and Jalen," head coach Herb Sendek said. "They are talented winners, who will, most certainly, add great value to Santa Clara University and our basketball program.

"Jalen and Miguel possess a passion for basketball and tremendous skill sets. Bronco Nation stands and applauds, as Miguel and Jalen stampede ahead together with us."

A skilled shooter, Williams was named 2017-18 Region Offensive Player of the Year after averaging 23.3 points, 3.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Last season, Tomley, an elite scorer, was invited to the BioSteel All-Canadian Basketball Game which features the top 24 high school players in the nation. He was the only player invited from British Columbia.

This year, Tomley is the No. 2 in scorer (29.0 ppg) in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association.
