SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Final Four not only caps off each college basketball season but it also serves as a gathering spot for the game's coaches.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches holds its annual convention during this five-day period (April 4-8).

A number of members of the Santa Clara men's basketball staff will join the festivities in Minneapolis, Minnesota, including assistant coach Jason Ludwig who for the eighth year will be holding his Latino Association of Basketball Coaches Luncheon.

The theme of this year's discussion is 'The Emergence of Latinos in College Basketball' and the luncheon on Friday, April 5 features an impressive panel:

• Dan Guerrero (UCLA Director of Athletics)
• Gloria Nevarez (West Coast Conference Commissioner)
• Frank Martin (South Carolina Head Coach)
• Earl Watson (Former Phoenix Suns Head Coach)

"I followed people like Frank Martin and Dan Guerrero and looked up to them as being some of the few Latinos in college athletics to reach success at the highest levels," Ludwig said. "I felt a support system that included them including other coaches and administrators could benefit the advancement of Latinos in college basketball."

Ludwig, who just completed his third season on Herb Sendek's staff, has seen the event grow.

"The group has grown tremendously and we had our best attendance to date last year at the Final Four in San Antonio," Ludwig said. "This year we are adding a guest panel of the most influential Latinos in college basketball, which we hope will further enhance support and participation."
