In his junior season, he started all 29 games and garnered First Team All-Ivy League and BAVC First Team All-District 13 honors while helping the Tigers to the NIT. He led the team in scoring (15 ppg), rebounding (6.2 pg), field goal percentage (51.2), and steals (37) while finishing second on the team and third in the league in 3-point FG percentage (44.6).

His sophomore campaign saw him play in 29 of 30 games and become a starter over the final seven. That season he averaged 6.1 ppg and 2.9 rpg while finishing second on the team in field goal percentage (52.6) and first in free throw percentage (81.5).

As a freshman, Caruso played in eight games off the bench.

A graduate of Junipero Serra High School, he earned third team all-state honors from MaxPreps as a senior and was a three-time all-league honoree, including first team his final two season. He graduated as the second-leading scorer in school history with 1,453 points and was a two-time team MVP.

Caruso graduated Princeton with a degree in history and finished his time at Santa Clara with a finance degree.
