Donovan Castro spent five seasons with Santa Clara men's basketball, including his final two as the team's director of operations.

Castro spent the previous three seasons as video coordinator for the Broncos where his duties included helping prepare for on-court workouts, video scouting, academic monitoring and on-campus recruiting.

Castro spent 2015-16 at Mississippi State as a graduate assistant and then joined the Santa Clara staff.

He also served as a graduate assistant under Santa Clara head coach Herb Sendek at Arizona State. While with the Sun Devils in 2014-15, he was involved in team travel, film exchange, and opponent breakdowns and edits for coaches’ evaluation. He also oversaw the staff of team managers and served as the staff liaison with athletic offices.

Prior to Arizona State, Donovan was a three-year (2011-14) student manager at UCLA, including the first two under coach Ben Howland (2011-13). He was part of the 2012-13 regular season Pac-12 Championship team and the 2014 Pac-12 Tournament title squad under coach Steve Alford.

While at UCLA, Castro worked with current NBA athletes such as Kyle Anderson, Shabazz Muhammad, Jordan Adams, Zach LaVine, and Travis Wear.

The native of Lindsay, California, received his bachelor's degree in political science in 2014 from UCLA.

Castro was a four-year varsity starter at Lindsay High School, where he led the team to a 2009-10 East Sequoia League Championship. He was named the East Sequoia League Most Valuable Player that season.

His high school accolades include the Mr. Basketball Award for most charges taken each season from 2007-10. He was also named his team's defensive player of the year in 2009.
